Intro post:
Musician since 1990, record collector for longer.
I dig books, synths, weird music, not so weird music. In building this new world, I seek authentic interaction so I’ll refrain from spamming my stuff.
If interested, there is a linktree to various projects etc. in my bio. Welcome all.
Never easy. May she rest well.
Congrats! A good start indeed.
This was how I discovered Soft Cell. One of my absolutely fave 12's. I found this used maybe 35 years ago. Super hot pressing. Spun at many parties, bar gigs etc. and it kills every time.
RIP Dave Ball

Doepfer have an answer for most questions, a solution for most problems and a way to achieve just about anything within the format. Way under appreciated imo.

Teenage Head “Frantic City”
From the video I was getting Hasil Adkins vibes, that raunchy aimless guitar mostly, then I noticed he's from pretty much the same region. Something in the water...strychnine perhaps.
Just finished this book. Good to hear the voices of the musicians. Was inspired to pull this out after watching the recent doc about Katrina and the 20th anniversary of the floods.

Indeed, cool record, I hadn't pulled that one out in a long time.

I have this, one of my favorite covers and a good listen.
Great read, I devoured that in a few sittings...
Blur were my fave from that lot, loved Elastica too. One more thing, coincidentally, I'm close to finishing this book. Have you read it? If not, it's a fun one. Lot's of stuff I forgot about and plenty I didn't know about the core of this scene.
Cheers!
Indeed. Was bummed to hear about this.
🖤
Indeed. Britpop injected much needed energy into the lethargic indy soundscape. I dug the proto Britpop bands, Stone Roses, Ride, Charlatans, MBV. I hated techno at the time but eventually discovered the Detroit stuff. My tastes were always wildly eclectic, even moreso today.
That's exactly the window, same experience. Grew up in Buffalo where the hardcore/punk scene was huge and fun until it wasn't and I got deeper into noise and deathrock and weird shit, stuff those squares couldn't handle.
I remember watching the "break" happen. Was a skate rat from the mid 80's and we used to get chased by cops, jocks and metalheads and pretty much everyone up until Nirvana crossed over, then those same assholes would try to find out where we got our clothes and music and wanted t hang.
My cherished copy, thrifted this promo back when I lived in LA. Love this album.
Somebody tell this guy about discogs, going from supporting Spotify to supporting Amazon seems like a bit of a lateral move.
Fun mail day
Genny Schorr “All Roads Lead To Punk” comes with a 7 incher.
I have a version of the song “Legend” on the Desperate Teenage Lovedolls soundtrack, by Redd Kross with Joanna from Backstage Pass. Killer.
Loads of cool pix, can’t wait to dig in.
