Yeah, you’re right it is usually the weird ones with thinly veiled 19th-century holdover fears about Papist hordes (though sometimes it’s the antitheists who just enjoy baiting people who disagree). I am sorry people think you want to play that game.
Especially weird to shit on Catholicism now because this is exactly the kind of step that suggests a willingness to do something about the worst real flaws of the Church. Take the win, people. Bitch about doctrine tomorrow. (Former Catholic, now agnostic, here.)
I dod not know I needed this. Thank you.

🧵It has been clear for years that a key difference between past instances of book banning and the present censorship cataclysm is that the banning happening now targets not only books, but librarianship as a profession and libraries as an institution. 1/4

It’s possible (and desirable, though not super-likely) that we’ll recover from this on largely nonviolent terms. It is no longer reasonable, though, to pretend we’re still on a playing field where anyone will win on Constitutional terms.
I’d rather hear echoes than fascists. I already know what they think.
Gorgeous. What is true seeking but deep listening to each other?
Recently started reading an essay from The Marginalian every morning before any news or nonsense, both to stake a claim on my own attention and to frame what comes after. Highly recommend figuring out your version of this and deciding how you want to start your days.
In the words of Woody Guthrie (about the OG version): “They say America first, but they mean America next.”
“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born; now is the time of monsters.”
For sure.

So Jurassic Park is about a group of rich people who don't understand that biology is far more complicated than "there are only two genders" and how this ignorance toward gender fluidity in nature causes these rich people to lose their money and die.
As one of the 6 (if you publish here), I appreciate it.
Anyone want to discuss this? We’re getting closer to the heart of the problem
"Can he find a way to be something worth wanting for his own sake—a man who is wanted even despite not being needed? Until we figure out how to tell that story, the crisis of gender relations will not abate." www.liberalcurrents.com/the-crisis-o...
The Crisis of Gender Relations
We need to put the final nail in the coffin of the Patriarchal Bargain and find new ideals we can live by.

Join a local currency or time bank. Start a cooperative. Switch your money to a credit union. Have a potluck.
The fact that monarchs who give up all their power can be a stable ceremonial part of a constitutional republic does not erase the fact that hereditary monarchy is an affront to the values of democracy. We don’t want tyrannical presidents OR kings.

This is my family’s cemetery. Generations of us are here. DHS thugs attacked the workers who laid my father to rest and tend to his gravesite. i dont know whether to cry or yell. I hope these DHS thugs find no peace in this life and the next.
Et tu, George Miller?
“It’s here to stay.”
“It’s not going anywhere.”
“Get used to it.”

Notice the robotic repetitive propaganda that tech billionaires spit into the mouths of proponents like a mother bird feeding babies is never about ethics, always about force, while pretending the force is natural not man made.
