Hello, new followers. If you're here about audio drama and you aren't already following @exoplanetary.bsky.social , may I humbly suggest?
I think I am basically storing nuts for winter at this point. My retirement will basically be Burgess Meredith in that Twilight Zone episode, only with a few spare magnifiers squirreled away.
What comes from having too many books at home is a startling efficiency in bookstores. I pop into the shop, look for what I need, and manage to avoid browsing.
@wychstreet.bsky.social I doubt he would cop to it, but I suspect that Penn is making himself look like Donald Duck throughout the film. Maybe if he gets the Oscar...
I really loved ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. Especially all of the video memes of young people mimicking Sean Penn's Donald Duck walk.
PTA & Scorsese are among the few top-line working movie directors who really understand & care for actors. It's nowhere near as common as you think. They know how to direct actors & enjoy giving them what they need.
this is great, of course, for lots of reasons (Kevin rules, Scott rules, etc.), one of which was how cool it was for me (a person with a disability) to see the way PTA and the production crew made accommodations for things in a way that was simple and supportive and from a place of genuine care
As an observer, I can't help but think that John Paul II's long and visible illness did so much to demystify the papacy that many now see the job differently. As a job, basically.
He was a good director, but hardly ever had a great script to work with. I was just reminded that he helmed the Diane Keaton film "The Good Mother," a rare film I know nothing about.
Also: we're worried. Get some rest, if you can.
I feel that Nimoy would not have agreed to his sweeps week guest spot if he felt he was going to look like a fool. He would do panel game shows, but none of that Love Boat shit.
The moon is an egg, Jon. Get over it. 🌕🥚
The same is true of Moffat for the current situation, no?
It's a raw moment. I was surprised he spoke at all. And, when he did...

Also, the magic of editing.
Paris, Texas (1984) dir: Wim Wenders. Gumby unknowingly consumed local tap water and became too ill to continue, necessitating recasting with Dean Stockwell.
I always thought he'd be good fun to work with.
"Oh, Jesus... he's talking about me, isn't he?"
It's a trick question. Nobody *wants* to see that.
There's something of your friend who keeps putting the same song in every mix tape in that last factoid. I find it charming.
You're being ironic, but I'll defend him. Marty is no snob. He used Gimmie Shelter in three different films... what's more pop than that?
The fact that Scorsese and Vallejo were on the same panel... that's a bit like Kubrick meeting Jack Kirby.
Not unhinged at all. Eminently sane.
The idea that they are working to help aging film collectors catalog and preserve what they have is ingenious. Fact is, much of what they hold, including 350 (!) nitrate films sent to the Library of Congress, simply would not exist otherwise. A must-listen for cinema fans.
A magnificent podcast episode dealing mostly with finding and preserving lost cinema and television. But, yes Virginia, it seems they have found a missing episode of what Mark Gatiss refers to as "the children's own programme that adults adore."

Undeniable. But more children have access to making comics than making cinema, even today. And both are important forms.

ah RIP Drew Struzan, the greatest movie poster illustrator ever, who created one of the greatest posters in a single day with no reference material from the film.

(As well as 90% of the great movie posters from the 80s. scrolling any streaming service now makes me hate what we've lost so much)
