it's not even like it's particularly weird for a ghost but for hc specifically.... like feeling like you could take it either way with him leaning into the "yeah, this is what made me a monster and now it REALLY is" as a ghost king to his enemies but being SO self-conscious when it comes to xl

just imagine once it DOES get cold and hua cheng (ambient temperature) (aka a block of ice) climbing into the nice warm bed next to xie lian (too warm atp) and settling in and IMMEDIATELY starting purring while xie lian full-body JOLTS at the cold contact with his skin and then relaxes into it...

meanwhile xie lian, halfway figuring out what's going on, is like no, don't stop, it's so cute! and proceeds to testing what can make hua cheng purr the loudest.

(it's only later that they figure out that xie lian fucking hua cheng /just right/ can make him purr so hard he /drools/ )
