I wrote in @theglobeandmail.com for Int’l Day to #EndImpunity for Crimes Against Journalists.

We need more than empty words from govts who claim to value journalists’ lives. They must take real steps to hold other states to account when they fail.

To end impunity, we must tackle indifference too.

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

At the Clooney Foundation for Justice #Albies awards one of the winners, my client, #JoseRubenZamora, could not be there as he is unjustly imprisoned in Guatemala. His son @josecarloszamora.bsky.social brought an empty chair on stage for his dad, & he spoke so powerfully.

I’ve lost count of how often Chinese/Hong Kong authorities or CCP State media have called me a “so-called human rights lawyer” leading a “so-called legal team.” I often play ‘propaganda bingo’ to myself when I read aggressive HKSAR statements which slam me/my clients/NGOs/other States/newspapers. 1/
