However in the intervening years he got divorced moved to Bali, and his entire library including my books were given away via the local church. Oops oh well. I did end up needing some of them here 🤷‍♀️ just had to re-buy

When I left Australia I boxed up all my Christianity related books (they were expensive/hard to replace, but of no use to me overseas) I didn't trust my parents to not just dump them. Gave them to a priest friend.

I get it, and I'd really prefer my unwanted paper books to go to someone else to read too, but honestly there are a LOT of books already in the world (esp the sort that can't find second homes easily) so I'm not going to be too upset if some end up in landfill/pulped

I've just bought a brand new hymnal and the first thing I did was cut through the string reinforcing the binding and bend the spine right the way back so it will lie flat on a music stand.

I have comic books in a foreign language that I'm learning and I take a pen and annotate right on the page

When I was collecting comics I'd pick up my books every week, then in the shop remove the mylar and backing board then fold back the cover to read the first few pages before putting them in my bag. 5-6 books a week drove some customers to absolutely seethe apparently because I was 'Doing It Wrong'.

Maybe I have ptsd from dealing with the UK Immigration system but I will ALWAYS have one bill in paper form (council tax is good for this) and one bank account with paper statements

My bank sometimes has a go at me for killing the planet because I insist on getting printed statements. Then they send me a printed statement along with 5 other useless sheets of paper, 3 of which are like "allow me to introduce you to the next sheet of paper"
