Out there is the perfect lap.

Do you see it?

The two salt concentrations are the average salt concentration of an ocean and the average salt concentration of the Atlantic, respectively.

It's awesome to see kids rush to class and immediately check on their investigation because they *want* to see what's happening. For the ghost forests, they are using bean plants as model trees, and they designed their own investigations. Most are watering with tap water, 3.5% sea salt and 3.7%.

A7 #ParkChat Okay, I searched my 1000s of photos for "lakes" and while this is the Potomac River, the colors and reflections stood out to me.

I love the foldout map, but I also like the little areas where you can put stamps!

Sorry I was late! Great questions, @beckyjlomax.bsky.social ! And, like Tom, I haven't yet met you in person, and hope to cross paths during one of my road trips! #ParkChat

My magnet biology students are currently finishing up an exploration of possible causes of ghost forests along the Atlantic Coast. They think I'm mean because they figured out that it involves chemistry as well as biology (they take both classes this year). 😆 #ParkChat

I was fortunate enough to see #OutThere at a special #STEAMinthePark showing, outdoors at our campsite at Voyageurs National Park. It's a great film. I totally recommend it, too! #ParkChat

A11 #ParkChat Again, I'm not really a lake person. But when I'm at the campsite for #STEAMinthePark at Voyageurs, there's this rock the others have taken to calling "Karen's Rock", and I'll fish there, and sometimes just sit there.

The arrival of OHVs isn’t just a bit louder traffic—it transforms the auditory environment and experience, scaring wildlife, disrupting visitor enjoyment, and eroding the intangible qualities (quiet, peace, remoteness) that many people seek in national parks.

Sorry I was late. I was at a homebrew competition with my Belgian Tripel. I got a lot of people who liked it (and came back for another pour.... or two), but didn't win any prizes. #ParkChat

A2 #ParkChat I have yet to see a moose in the wild, but I've seen quite a few others. Turtles are always my favorite though.

A1 #ParkChat I'd have to say fishing *on* the lake and hiking to/around the lake! If I want my husband to join me, then fishing has to be involved.
Pat and I caught fish at the same time on Table Rock Lake in Missouri.

A8 #ParkChat Most lakes named after people. These lakes have other, older names, as you pointed out already.

A9 #ParkChat I guess "easily reachable by car" is subjective. This was somewhere in Nevada between Twin Falls, ID and Wells, NV.

A10 #ParkChat As part of #STEAMinthePark at Voyageurs, we get to do a boat tour with Ranger Mark to IW Stevens' island and Kettle Falls. Two years ago, we went to Ellsworth Rock Garden and Anderson Bay.

A4 #ParkChat I have not paddled on a lake. A river, yes. Tidal areas at Assateague Island, yes. Not a lake though.

A5 #ParkChat Since I'm not much of a lake person, I'm going to go with this King Rail I saw at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge at Twin Ponds.

A6 #ParkChat Peaceful lakes reflecting the dying light of sunset, like Lake Kabetogama at Voyageurs National Park.

A3 #ParkChat I visited a glacial lake in Iowa this past summer -- Storm Lake. Most people don't think of glaciers or lakes when they go to Iowa!

No. Many #ALLCAPS fans miss the dulcet tones of Bruce, the organ player.
