It has nothing to do with mental capacity, and everything to do with with of you aren’t going to be alive long enough to see the long term impacts of any legislation you pass, then you’re too old to hold office.

Also, the retirement age is 67. So elected officials over 67 need to retire.

They are blatantly ignoring a judges orders. The frustrating part is that there seems to be no fear of consequences or accountability being held.

Honestly, if they can’t come to a bipartisan agreement to fund the government and balance the budget they should immediately be removed from their position and a new representative elected in their place.

The protest are declaring that ICE holds no power over them. Dressing up as an animal, naked bike rides, dancing, all of it makes ICE look weak.

I think it’s a great protest strategy against a group that thrives on violence. There is nothing threatening about a person in an inflatable costume and it makes ICE look ridiculous when they attempt to intimidate them and even worse in the public eye if they come off as an aggressor.

That’s one reason many people don’t use it. In addition to safety concerns, cleanliness, smoking etc. the CTA should have invested in that instead.

Or they could have taken the billions they spent on a flyover to shave 5 minutes off of the commutes of the rich neighborhoods and spent that money on providing reliable public transit - saving the commuters who don’t live on the north side along the lake 30+ minutes on theirs.

Yes, but wages have remained stagnant and have not increased to cover the cost of living. In 1987 minimum wage was $3.85/hr. Today it’s $7.25/hr. While a dollar today only buys 35.064% of what it could buy in 1987.
