Having seen it twice now, I feel like the film itself does try and grapple with AI and those big "Tron" ideas (at least as much as they can in an action-packed thrill ride with a clear mandate to come in under 2 hours).

Obviously there’s an audience for TRON, and I think culture will come to appreciate Ares as they did Legacy.

What Disney SHOULD do is use the series as a proving ground; give new talent small budgets and let them run wild to hopefully find the next Kosinski, Edwards, Yamazaki, etc.
