i've been setting aside savings to ride out the storm untl the industry recovers but I'm becoming convinced that's simply not going to happen... there's too much damage, too many good people bailing, too many awful people put in position of power again and again and again. things are just broken.

I think the big difference now is that the masks are truly off. I mean, in many ways they never were really that concealed (remember Bobby Kotick's "I like to keep my people in fear" speech) but now with the market collapse and AI stampede, a sense of people being disposable has really filtered down

A lot of the anger towards the triple-A side of the industry, which appears to be crumbling, is coming from a place of "but wait, then what was all my sacrifice really for in the end?".

Once you stopped being able to look at crunch as a badge of honour you had to recognize how fucked up it all was.

A key that a lot of these analyses miss is that the Trumpist right wing actually believe their own propaganda

- they think the vast majority of people support them - the fact Trump didn't win a 49 state majority is seen as proof the vote was stolen
- they believe all the crap on twitter is real

You are correct that cops will fight anyone, however, optics are a thing whether we like that or not. Black blocs are great, but they also feed into the "radical leftist" imagery this administration is foaming at the mouth for. Not giving it to them is somewhat satisfying.
