(Pius of St. Aloysius) 1868-1889
Italian Passionist, he died of tuberculosis before being ordained a priest. During his illness he remained in his formation monastery, praying and singing hymns.

2 November Saint of the Day: St. Justus (d. 303)
Citizen of Trieste, Italy, known for his charity. He was drowned for refusing to sacrifice to Roman gods. St. Justus is my "proto-saint;" a visit to his cathedral in Trieste sparked my interest in saints.
