It's sadly somewhat nice that they feel like they have to come up with a lie to deal with the blowback, unlike the general, "Yeah, so I'm a Nazi. So what?" reaction a lot of the other Republicans are doing.

NYCC is filled with great original comic books, like the world premiere of Ryan Dunlavey's Bad Guy, about a guy who finds himself spiraling into the world of supervillainy. Told in broad, bombastic strokes by Dunlavey, this is just one example of the cool new stuff that creators are up to at NYCC.
