30/ The replacement battery worked. This machine has DOS and Win 95 on it because it's from that awkward period where a game could run in one or the other. Everything is being quirky though and it's annoying. Forsaken refuses to run properly no matter what driver I use. Transparency is messed up.

That rhythm is everything 😍

29/ Okay the 486 is all set up! Every game tested and I only needed two startup configurations to get every game working. Next up is the Pentium 200 MMX with Voodoos in SLI and immediately we have a problem: a dead Dallas. Looks like I might have a spare. Unless it's for an EISA system.

The latest date recognised by Geoff Crammond's Formula 1 Grand Prix is 29th August 2022. The day is somehow wrong (it was a Monday).

Super Karts from circa 1994. VGA graphics, CD audio, and some questionable driver names.

#MODtober continues. Todays mod is Freerunner, a fast paced chip-tune with rolling beats, strong PWM bass and melancholic lead lines.

The first unskippable ad in history (maybe) was between installing Redneck Rampage and setting it up. It's for the Starfleet Academy game. 🙄

Added Redneck Rampage to the collection. I think I played a demo of this once back in the day so this will be amusing. Also gonna introduce some home-educated teens to it. 🤣

28/ One of the risks when 'testing' games is that you end up actually playing them for longer than intended. The two I have been dragged into today are Blackthorne and Beneath a Steel Sky. 😅

That is odd. It's enabled in the features list, it just stopped working, so maybe the update didn't break it on your system or it wasn't installed.

Well anything old enough to use Samba 1.0 so that includes old versions of Linux, UNIX and any NAS hardware using such OSes. I guess I could just remove the update, because they're not going to fix it are they.

I'm so annoyed they broke SMB 1.0 in Windows 10 recently. They're not gonna fix it are they. Now I have to boot into Wickes 7 so I can copy files onto my Windows 3.1 maybe. 😭

27/ Next system is my 486DX4/160, my favourite PC ever, as it's built around the motherboard I've had since 1995. It works fine, but I need to implement a menu system for ease of use and I need recommendations for games for a sub-Pentium system!

26/ I have also downloaded a bunch of Playstation games for that emulator, which I've never really used. Driving games such as WipeOut, Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer can't manage much more than 7fps, but Tomb Raider and Crash are fine it seems.

Holy shit there's a Colombia Data Products PC clone on eBay. Hopefully the existing bidder fixes it.

Tune! I love the pace and how clean the samples are.
brassicgamer.bsky.social
Nice, haven't heard this one before, though I think I've heard all of the samples 😉

Today's #MODtober offering is 'Vote for Me' by Leinad of Avalanche from the Assembly '94 4-channel competition. This one obviously really stuck in my mind!

Forgot to do #MODtober yesterday, but busy. Today's offering is via the MOD Archive, which has an online player and you can download the original XM.

This is 'Constellations' by Komosa, who produces commercially now via Bandcamp.
