just saw them in Detroit two weeks ago. I was kinda hoping they’d do a tour celebrating this anniversary with Do Make Say Think who also have an album turning 25 this year. where does the time go?
these in particular are over 2 billion years old. they are the oldest evidence of life on earth and are responsible for the oxygenation of the planet’s atmosphere. so it would not be an understatement to say that we owe them…everything!
I never imagined that I’d ever get to see a stromatolite fossil in person, much less an entire outcropping of them. the geology nerd in me was pretty overwhelmed.
