The thing that is most devastating to me about the ongoing evisceration of the public health infrastructure in the U.S right is how little awareness of what's going on the majority of people in the general public have and the impact this will have on their health and safety.

He got the COVID and flu Vaccines like every 79 year old should this is a good thing.
"Cardiovascular age validated by by ECG and found to be 14 years younger than chronological age" is a nonsensical phrase.
I am an internist this is not something we do or write in medical reports.

Like most wellness influencers the allure of money quickly gets to stray well outside the scope of their expertise. Not everyone can see through the misinformation when he start waxing eloquent about how to "cancer proof" your body in a soothing voice 🤷‍♀️

I have shared about great days when every patient I see is a "YES" on vaccines but this isn't always the case & I want to share the other side as well. The positive I took from today is everyone was open to conversation on their "why NOT " and I think this moved them a bit closer to yes some day.

Most people are not anti-vaccine and hesitancy is a wide spectrum ranging from not wanting to be inconvenienced to needing to know more, having questions & getting the timing right. I find that I have the most success when I try to meet people where they are without judgement.

I try not to internalize vaccine refusal as a failure on my part. Rather, I leverage this as an opportunity to have a conversation about the vaccine I am offering and answer question the person may have. This hopefully plants a seed for more favorable outcomes in future visits.

In clinic today only 1/8 folks agreed to flu vaxx. Some days are like this. The reasons for refusal:
" the shot makes me sick"
" I have weekend plans I don't want anything to mess that up"
" I don't think I need it"
" I have never had the flu"
" there are too many shot doc"
" Let's do it next time"

Of course like any other medication Tylenol when used incorrectly or in excess can cause adverse effects but that is not what has been suggested by RFK Jr and Co. 🤷‍♀️

Cameroon my country has its presidential election this coming Sunday. The 92 year old president who has been in power 42 years is running again for a 7 year term. The only people who think having an authoritarian in power is "fun" have never lived under dictatorship. He will likely "win" again.
