I'm inclined to agree that the Admiralty is at a crossroads.
They need to articulate a sober case to parliament for a decade long investment in capital ship fleet renewal. The Astute class program is likely under funded at present, as is SSBN replacement.

Trump's natural antipathy towards China is useful as major banks fear US Treasury sanctions. Shadow fleet operations could resume once additional ships are purchased buy Kremlin front companies. The Kremlin however still needs hard currency as payment which can be tracked.

The Kremlin cannot fund its current arsenal long term. In 2024 the US spent $54B on development and maintenance of its nuclear arsenal. That is more than the Kremlin's entire annual military budget.
