So very excited to share a new short story of mine published in a spooky edition of The Genre Society! What if your answers to a Resort Satisfaction Questionnaire indicated some sort of terrifying outbreak was happening during your stay? Check it out on page 28!

I love Vulture's daily Cinematrix game and it's especially fun when I get to use a movie I've written. First time for CLASSIFIED! Bonus points for sharing a lane with @johnrogers.bsky.social!
Congrats Joe, this sounds so cool!
SO AWESOME! Congrats Colby!
Sometimes getting notes on a script is like someone asking you to kick your baby repeatedly until it looks like a different baby. Not nicer, not cuter, just...different.
An example: yesterday was filled with stuff to do as my prime "writing time" dwindled. I almost threw in the towel, and instead took the last doable hour and wrote for an hour straight, finished a rough draft of a new short story. Writing "something" instead of nothing is alway a good writing day.
I started thinking about a new script idea in 2022. Last year I wrote 40 pages, sent em to a friend to make sure I had something worth pursuing. Then I wrote a full draft, got some more feedback, & sent a revised draft to my manager today. It takes as long as it takes.
Great line from @sethgodin.bsky.social's daily blog, one that speaks to screenwriting and the long, hard work of making anything really: "It’s hard work to stick around long enough to get lucky."
I think Heavy Metal was on HBO like once when I was in HS. I copied it on VHS and my D&D-loving nerdy friends and I watched pretty much every day of summer break. The best.
yep, checked the Verizon site and they said there have been fiber cuts. Fun!
The exec we're working with encouraged us to try and "one up" each other in thinking up scary ideas. Here's @benrock.com bringing his A-game.
I hit a dry spell last year in getting short stories published so I redoubled my efforts this year, tackling a 12 stories in 12 months challenge, researching new markets, and whoa, I got two acceptances in the last two weeks. Feels good to be getting some new stuff out there!
CONGRATS! So excited to hear!
Fingers crossed you're announcing a cross-over event: Hot Frosty in Space!
Thanks Matt! Your newsletters & posts are very inspiring. Looking forward to having some good news to share one of these days.
I've been so fortunate when it comes to agents - I've never in my 20 year+ screenwriting career had to send a query letter. But I'm just getting started as a fiction writer so I sent my first query letter ever today. Putting myself out there feels weird and good.
Taking a lil break from Disney plus & Hulu. It may not change how they handle this situation, but perhaps the next giant corporation that's asked to bend the knee will be inspired to find a backbone and fight.
No need. As long as you know the basics of the world, then you'll be fine.
Everything feels like an unending trash-fire right now and there's some personal stuff that's really bumming me out but I got on a zoom with a friend and put some cards on the board (ie breaking story) and after a couple hours, I at least feel a little more like myself. Which I'm counting as a win.
You are so canceled! (That's short for CANtankerously CELebrated.)
While there are plenty of tremendous candidates for the WGA board of directors, I'd like to give a shout-out to
