I have come around to thinking that Godzilla shouldn't have a Wolverine style healing factor. His special thing is his atomic breath, and we aren't giving up on enemies beating him or energy blasting him to near death, so let's not do the healing thing that voids that tension.
I can't find any information on whether Battra was considered for use in Rebirth of Mothra. Has no one else been thinking about this? That suggestion had to have come up, so why turn him down? Or if it didn't come up, how? He's evil Mothra!
Reflecting on the fact that a lot of the Godzilla movies I watched growing up were VHS recordings from TNT
I just watched Varan. We've been calling Baradagi by his white name, haven't we?
We read One Punch Man for the plot
It's pretty interesting, because in the original King Kong, they purposely made him look like a bunch of different sizes for emotional impact, with no desire for consistent scale

I also have a sneaking suspicion that the same fans who are still (in 2025) mad at that movie love the MonsterVerse stuff, because they think Godzilla is defined by being big and strong, instead of by an anti-nuclear metaphor. Very American attitude, in common with Godzilla 98.
It really is too bad we don't have more stuff about Zilla. There's enough stuff for Zilla to lead a series in any medium. It won't happen in film. A licensed comic is the most likely, but would a publisher approve a solo series if it's not the Big G himself?
Just watched Godzilla 98. Overall fun movie, aside from the name. Matthew Broderick could have tried acting, and the story is only a few steps removed from having thematic power.

I also read the treatment to the unmade sequel, and that would have been a blast. Gotta get The Series.
Not exactly far off from the original movie. Could be the reaction to him coming from the Pacific to NYC. Could work for 98, as a lot of politicians came of age in the Cold War, and MAD is still a threat today. I say nest in the other country like a nuke stockpile, there are other options.
The best idea I have is to go with MAD. The army attacks Zilla and thinks he's sent by another country, with a nest over there that the president has to decide to nuke or not. Of course, Zilla wasn't malicious and the other country didn't send him, and we would have started WWIII.
I thought I had this revelation recently that the TriStar Godzilla is close to being the American inverse of the original metaphor. I don't think that idea holds up, but it does have me excited to think what that could be. What do we fear about the bomb? What *should* we fear about it?
I'm thinking about a fictional business for a comic, and the logo would be interlocking scissors. Just the thought of scissors crossing like that makes my teeth hurt.
I'm sitting here appreciating how much Godzilla has affected me. He's been with me my whole life. He sparked my interest in other cultures, world events, politics, war, and the unsavory truths America hides. He gave me a moral framework to understand all of it, too.

🚨 New directive NSPM-7 targets "anti-capitalism," “anti-Christian,” and “anti-American" opinions as indicators of extremist violence, authorizing an army of 4,000 counter-terrorism officers to prevent crimes that haven't happened:

I am so mad at myself. I have multiple pages of thumbnails that I didn't write anything about in my notes, so now I have no idea what they mean.

Always write down all your ideas.
I'm especially annoyed that I don't know how to take this less personally. I clearly care more than I'd like to. I should have the maturity to accept a difference of opinion. I just can't shake the feeling that I haven't found the core to this thought spiral, and I hate it. If you read this, thanks
I'm more mad that they get all the blame for cultural issues in the real world, when the real problem is always rich people. I'm a queer nerd who's tired of feeling attacked for what I like. I'm a scapegoat who's mad people who know where to aim still hit me and act righteous about it.
