I do a lot of reading and so it's probably not a surprise that I also do some writing, about these idiots. If you like the look of them (and don't mind a slow romance, and I do mean SLOW) then you can read about them here:
archiveofourown.org/series/4692823
A montage of a golden mouse and a black mouse, where they are touching noses in the center. Top left, they are on the road with a walled city behind them. Top right, the black mouse is blocking the swing of a sword in front of the golden mouse, who is on the floor behind him. Bottom left, the golden mouse is inviting the black mouse to dance. Bottom right, the golden mouse is playing on a lute for the black mouse. They are both male. A golden mouse, black mouse, red squirrel, mole, and otter all posing heroically with their weapons drawn. A golden mouse wearing musketeers clothes is being bridal carried by a black mouse in scaled armor. The golden mouse is kissing the black mouse on the cheek, who is surprised and blushing. On a tree branch, a black mouse with a greatsword and a golden mouse with a rapier face off against a white owl descending down upon them.

Aslan doesn't explain very well why he gets bigger

These dorks just never listen to Lucy

The kids immediately gave Trumpkin a nickname. The DLF, Dear Little Friend.
bleutheshark.bsky.social
Right, the kids would bring ideas from Earth into Narnia, though I think Trumpkin being interested in the coin flip is more that he hasn't seen any gold coins before

"His name was Reepicheep and he was a gay and noble mouse."

THERE HE IS

And of course the Black Dwarfs (dwarfs with black hair mind) are the ones that are closer to evil than the other ones. Nikabrik couldn't more obviously be a traitor if it was spelled out in bold letters
bleutheshark.bsky.social
Okay Caspian does at least know what a damn badger is
bleutheshark.bsky.social
Did the Telmarones really drive off and try to erase the history of... ANIMALS?? Surely there are ANIMALS in other parts of the world that Narnia is in???
bleutheshark.bsky.social
I've read so much Redwall that everytime I see the word vittles spelled "victuals" I have to stop myself from reading it incorrectly (its still pronounced "vittles." For some reason)
bleutheshark.bsky.social
I know this is Caspian's Uncle being an asshole but WHAT DO YOU MEAN
bleutheshark.bsky.social
"There's no such thing as lions."

What. How rare are lions in Narnia??
bleutheshark.bsky.social
"I'm not gonna tell you this part the way the dwarf said it because it was too long and confusing"
bleutheshark.bsky.social
In which the children steal a boat and save a dwarf. The dwarf also happily announces that he is, in fact, a dangerous criminal
bleutheshark.bsky.social
Living an entire life and coming back to the remnants of it. I can't imagine what that must feel like.

So they find the ruins of Cair Paravel, all confused as to how things ended up this way in only one year. You'd think they'd remember by now that they spent a long time in Narnia and yet no time passed in the real world when they returned
bleutheshark.bsky.social
LITERALLY pulled, it feels to them as if someone or something is physically pulling them
bleutheshark.bsky.social
So we get a quick summary of their previous adventures, what they're up to at that very moment (going off to boarding school at the end of the holidays) and then very suddenly they get pulled into Narnia

I've seen the movie, but I don't remember ever reading the book, and I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid so... this will be quite the experience
bleutheshark.bsky.social
Watching the first movie has reinvigorated by desire to experience this series again so I only have one thing to say about Prince Caspian:

GIVE ME REEPICHEEP OR GIVE ME DEATH

NARNIA 2: PRINCE CASPIAN BY CS LEWIS THREAD
Cover of the second Chronicles of Narnia Book: Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis. It depicts a prince and an older man in white robes looking over the parapet of a tower in a castle. The prince is hunched over while the older man is gesturing as if he's lecturing him. There are mountains and a river in the background.

Hmm. Ah well. At least I'm done. I'm probably not reading the other Deptford Mice books.
bleutheshark.bsky.social
I dunno! I dunno. Nothing here feels as fleshed out as it could be and it kind of just ended immediately after the main villain died, so we don't get to see any real resolution. I'm left largely unsatisfied and disappointed when I wasn't even expecting anything.

is possibly the actually most active character in the book just from the fact that he's trying to make up for the fact that Arthur died to save him and Audrey hates him. And Akkikyu makes a heel turn for legit NO REASON at the end and that ALSO doesn't amount to anything.
