Not only does this chiffchaff have #SkinnyLegs they also apparently need a good wash. It came back several times during the same day or maybe they were different birds, but it's rare for me to see any.

I put a large nest box up with a starling sized hole, I already have a blue tit one, of course the great tit and blue tit argue over claiming it.

Well if you pop into St James Park, the other side of Buckingham palace from Hyde park, you'll see quite a few non UK water birds, as that's where the collection of ducks, geese and pelicans given to the royal family over the centuries live.
Well, they might eat a few of your eggs and chicks.
The wood pigeon may be twice the size of the Eurasian jay, but it doesn't trust it, they really do seem to have a bad reputation with other birds. (CCTV video from the bird bath)

CCTV of a Eurasian wren on a chain link fence, It makes a good climbing frame for the agile little bird, but it doesn't provide any insects!

Most of this years great tit young are now sporting their adult plumage, but this one still has its juvenile colours, maybe it was one of the last ones raised.

The dusk blue tit territorial disputes continues, even the European robin wonders what's going on. The blue tit spent 4+ minutes outside the entrance making itself look big before giving up. full video: youtu.be/FjPm6ZKuMxg

They are own brand from B&M, a UK discount store, they're cheap, £11 for 150/12.75kg, as the jackdaws, ring necked parakeets and grey squirrels eat a lot of them.
Long tailed tits must be the cutest birds that visit the feeder. I usually only see them in the autumn and winter, quite often in mixed flocks with blue tits and great tits, much to the annoyance of the resident blue tit, who will attack them. youtu.be/L9NXhFVKI7Q

A Eurasian collared dove using the bird bath. They don't spend as much time just soaking as the wood pigeons do.

It was one of the many 30c days we've had this year. So I think this European robin was trying to cool down by completely opening its feathers to expose its skin and panting, not sure why it didn't just jump in the water, maybe it would have if something didn't scare it.

The European robin really likes to make sure every part of it is wet when bathing.

I notice several of the house sparrows have ticks on their head, as they can't preen there. They seem to pick them up nesting, I guess from the grass they use for nesting material. Hopefully they are heathy enough to live with the parasite until it's had its fill and falls off.

The great tit is wary of the large blue tit, it's not unusual for it to bully the other birds, It probably didn't even want to have a bath but just wanted to make sure everybody knows who bath it is!

The wood pigeon does not seem to be impressed with the shower it receives while trying to get a drink. The starlings seem to be loving bathing in the hot weather.

Starling flying kicks. Two juvenile starlings have a mid-air argument by kicking at each with beaks open screaming.
(1/8 speed)

Starlings aerial battles, the juveniles are starting to lose their brown colouring and getting the black spotted plumage, they seem to love a good squabble while screaming!

A young starling leaps from the suet cage with its beak open at an adult as it flies by a young and adult startling both with their wings open fighting in the air. an adult and a young starling grab each others feet as they battle in the air
Thirsty young great tits. The juvenile great tits are starting to get their adult plumage.

I have a blue tit that sleeps in my kitchen roof above my back door, it's roosted in there for years. The problem is it's another blue tits territory and occasionally it likes to try to stop it going to bed. (grainy video as getting dark)

It's a European robin, All over the world Europeans went, saw a red fronted bird and said it looks like a robin lets call it a robin too, hence the American robin, African robin, Pekin robin to name a few.
Robin needs its tail to grow back as it helps with steering!

A European robing sitting on the ground, with its bright orange breast and face brown body, but it is missing a tail
This Eurasian magpie is moulting and has a lot of missing and pin feathers, but the new feathers really do show the blue, green and violet sheens that they have.
#birds #ukbirds
A Eurasian magpie sitting on the bird feeder looking to the left A Eurasian magpie coming into land on the bird feeder, with its wings outstretched you can see the white tips, and blue and green sheet to the wings and tail feathers. A Eurasian magpie coming into land on the bird feeder, with its wings folder and its legs outstretched to grab the perch.
The Eurasian Jay, which might be a juvenile is not sure about the ring necked parakeet that doesn't want to share the bird feeder, I think an adult would just give it a peck like the jackdaws do. (sorry, only CCTV video)

It may take a while for them to get used to going inside, I use it during the breeding season, it's stocked with live mealworms, so too expensive to feed starlings! The blue tits and great tits (chickadees) have to hunt for insects to feed their chicks so the need overrides any fear.
