🏊‍♂️ A few days ago, Ross Edgley completed the Great Icelandic Swim!

Our PM Davíð Gíslason interviewed by Visir in Iceland, mentioned that Ross's collected seawater samples for #eDNA 🧬 are crucial to reveal biodiversity & protect 30% of 🇮🇸 seas by 2030!

👩‍🔬BioProtect PhD student Marjolijn Rika Nijzingh collected 325 #eDNA samples at 37 sites (0–500m) around 🇮🇸 aboard RV Árni Friðriksson.

The data will reveal the presence of fish, mammals, corals & more, a big step for #30x30 goals!

🏖️ 🇮🇸 This summer, we collected #eDNA samples in #Skjálfandi Bay, North Iceland!

🧪We sampled at 10 sites, taking water from depths ranging from 20 meters to the seafloor. These samples will be analyzed to reveal the Bay’s biodiversity.

Integrated with an #AUV, it was deployed at 20 and 75m off Porto. ⛴️

Autonomous sampling matched manual protocols with triplicate water filtration.
