Definitely a mix. Sometimes the exact setting is vague, sometimes it’s a real city, sometimes it’s a fictional place that’s loosely based on a real one.

I helped out with something like this once before, might try it again. A little challenging, but fun!
I’ve never worked with slush, but I’ve noticed something similar by beta reading for random writers. Often, I can tell almost immediately if I’m in for a treat, or if it’s going to be a slog.
