kraft sat in a room in february and said IF YOU ARE A WIDE RECEIVER I WANT TO PAY YOU TO COME PLAY HERE, guessing there was a big disconnect between how he views the portal and how james did. can't help but wonder if his approach won out, where is the team this year and does james still have a job.

the two constants in this are penn state is consistently the best at recruiting (although it’s close and not by a huge margin) and consistently the worst in the portal (and it’s not close), through this lens it makes a sense why rhule and drinkwitz are two guys whose names are popping up a lot

thinking about how pat kraft made it sound like knowing how to navigate life in the current era of CFB is going to be priority no. 1 in his search and i think this kinda shows that franklin not being a huge transfer portal guy was a huge problem in his eyes

a fun thing about being out of NBA media is i occasionally remember things i didn't have to keep tabs on and laugh at them. deandre ayton's on the lakers now? michael porter jr's on the weird ass nets? the hell was that wizards/pelicans trade again? all delightful.

1. offense-first guy
2. understands the portal/NIL stuff
3. impressive job building up mizzou over his time there
4. way he carries himself is a good fit for PSU
5. recruits PA/upper midwest (beau in the portal, this and last class have QBs from PA, last class had as many kids from ohio as missouri)

i have a similar gripe with game shows. i hate that they're all hosted by celebs now and not weird but charismatic little guys pulled from radio stations in milwaukee. the exception is steve harvey on family feud, who is perfect.
