In a patriarchal, car-dominated world that rewards “masculine energy” it’s actually a wildly subversive act to be a women on a bike. I have been yelled at, pulled, told I’m risking my children’s lives, flipped off, and ignored. And yet the joy I feel out weighs it all. #bikes destroy #patriarchy.

love this new york times clip. they recently did a story about how sesame street's set has changed over the years, along with our urban politics.

It’s beyond politics. It’s truly about violent, repressive, and barbaric domination by a small group of authoritarians.
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.
Awful. That type of thing is why we started bike bus! It’s social infrastructure for places where physical infrastructure creates potential traffic violence.
Bike Bus is awesome!
Volume on for a full Mister Roger’s experience.
I hear you…but I also don’t think strong towns are ones led by anti-women’s rights white men.
Sounds patriarchal.
This is more than a disagreement. We live in a country in which women don’t have the same legal rights over their body that me . In which immigrants (and citizens) are being rounded up and disappeared. In which conservatives are taking away basic human rights. This is not what makes strong towns.
I jest with curb cuts only for Christian moms! :)

Day in the life as a bus bus leader 🧡
True! Rather than shaming and shunning them, I’ve reached out to moms (and dads) of this ilk. We’ll get nowhere by polarizing blaming. Asking questions, inviting in, finding common ground—this is how we all win.

“A startling statistic emerged in Paris last month: during the morning and evening rush hours, on representative main thoroughfares crisscrossing the French capital, there are now more bicycles than cars – almost half as many again, in fact.”

And it has kept growing from there.

For the record, this is in New Jersey…
There’s no demand for bike infrastructure. If you build it they won’t come. #criticalmass
