I have a homework assignment for my songwriting class. Pick a song. Learn it front to back. Build a new song from the same chords. I chose a Sturgill tune with seven or maybe eight different chords. They’re very good chords. I know it’s not a competition, but I hope nobody else uses these chords.

Outside my room at the infusion center, people are gathered for an honor walk. I’ve just learned this is a ceremonial event that happens when a patient is going to the operating room for organ donation. Beautiful and sad.
