It’s a loss and there was some dross but tell me you didn’t see some better flowing football through the middle third - Bergvall brings so much that we need.

Lack of final ball quality at times but could hardly watch Richie up front… the bluntest of blunt edges for 83 painful minutes.

6th seems about right. Upside potential from the returning players giving us better possession higher up the pitch. Downside potential from hitting a run of teams who convert the chances we are giving up.

Watched it back now and had a close look at the goals.

The lack of reaction at the back for the second goal is hard to believe…

1) we’re playing a double pivot (with all the pain that is brings) and neither of them is close to the ball *5 seconds* after cash plays the pass. CBs also nowhere.

Looked like we stole the jam out of our own donut today. High energy, direct start for 7 mins, with the crowd lively and the Villa goal under plenty of threat.

Followed by 10 mins of knocking it sideways which killed the energy and the rhythm stone dead.
