#CraftWednesday finally had a breakthrough on playing this one. I figured out a way to add a ton of agency to the game and nothing has to change which is good news. I still have to make card backs and I’ll have to order a @thegamecrafter.bsky.social copy

This was in Binghamton NY, I think it was CD-go-round or something like that. It was your favorite album, I remember hearing that spoken word intro in the car and thinking “what is this?!”

GYBE are epic, love them. Probably encountered them around 2000 also, I was at a used record store, saw the cd and knew I had to hear it. Fugazi has been an influence for sure, Mark Lanegan too. Real McKenzies specifically for Paul saying “we’ll get it in the edit” on their live album

However, for games and design and ethos, that's probably where GYBE slots in the most for me. Do what you want the way that you want despite viability, despite the complex, despite the industry. Create unabashedly how you create.

I saw them back in '06 or so. It was the loudest show I ever went to.

This is the silly version of Pharmalogical. I wanted to do a card game where it was the number of cards for each value, like 9 of the 9 value cards, etc. but it didn’t work. This one has some bidding, multi use cards, plenty of stress of trying to battle viruses

I had that for a while too, I collected every expansion and promo for 7 wonders and castles of burgundy. Then realized we rarely play them so we forget how to play and have to just play the base game. Promos add a fun element though sometimes

Flock together has this issue. Harvest (new version) also. Just bloated. Too much is not additive when the game doesn’t change by adding those things. It’s just the appearance of making it “replayable”
