F.D.A. Approves Generic Abortion Pill as Opponents Push Trump for New Restrictions
www.nytimes.com
“The FDA did its job — evaluating evidence and approving a safe, effective medication.”
— Mini Timmaraju, Reproductive Freedom for All
The approval comes as anti-abortion activists pressure the Trump administration to restrict abortion medication.
But experts say the FDA’s move was based on science, not politics.
Nearly two-thirds of abortions in the U.S. are now medication-based.
Access to these pills — especially through telemedicine — has kept abortion care available even after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
The FDA just approved a new generic version of the abortion pill mifepristone — expanding access at a critical moment for reproductive rights.

On Oct 12, 1492, Columbus landed in the Americas. His voyages sparked colonization that devastated Indigenous nations like the Taíno, Aztec, Inca & Maya. Today, many observe this day by honoring Indigenous resilience, not conquest. #ColumbusDay #IndigenousHistory
Today is #IndigenousPeoplesDay 🌎 (Oct 13, 2025).
First adopted in 1992 (Berkeley, CA), it honors Indigenous histories & futures.
Remember Wilma Mankiller (1945–2010), Zitkala-Ša (1876–1938), Maria Tallchief (1925–2013), Sarah Winnemucca (c.1844–1891).
Whose story inspires you?
Coming out looks different for everyone. It’s not always public, easy, or safe—but it remains a reminder that stories change culture.
💬 How has visibility shaped your journey—or your understanding of others?
#NationalComingOutDay #StandUpSpeakOut #BCVoices
📅 First observed in 1988, the day was founded by psychologist Robert Eichberg & activist Jean O’Leary.
It marked the anniversary of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights—where 500,000+ people demanded equality.

🌈 Today is National Coming Out Day 🌈
A day to honor the power of visibility, the courage of coming out, and the stories that shape community.

From insurers dragging their feet to pharmacists empowered to say “no,” the system fails those who need it most—women of color, LGBTQ+ folks, low-income patients, & those in pharmacy deserts. Rights on paper mean little without enforcement.
#BirthControlRights #HealthCareIsAHumanRight
It’s time to close the gap. The Access to Birth Control Act would guarantee harassment-free, timely access to contraception nationwide. Because reproductive freedom shouldn’t depend on zip code or privilege.
#GenZForChange #ReproJustice
The ACA promised free birth control. But at the pharmacy counter? Too many still walk away empty-handed. Loopholes, refusals & denials keep contraception out of reach for millions.
