I would advocate reading Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic (but that’s just me) at some point as they do give background to later wizards books and Rincewind books, and Equal Rites has Granny Weatherwax, but she’s more fleshed out as a character in Wyrd Sisters

If I remember correctly, it was written in response to the huge amount of poorly written fantasy/sword and sorcery stories that were around at the time. It wasn’t going to be the start of something so huge and thoughtful. Mort or Wyrd Sisters are where the Discworld really starts to take shape IMO

Today marks a year since Mr Sheen performed in White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Being the final volunteer in that show and sharing the stage with our Welsh delight is something that I was very fortunate to do, am proud of and will never forget
