I’ve been enjoying their 15 Year Old, as you say with the 12, it could benefit from a ABV increase.
Granted they have a bar and while they have an impressive range to try at the bar, it’s limited to their bottles & some Thompson Bros offerings when it comes to whisky (Gin / Rum).

But it’s still an expensive option if you want to have a pretty guaranteed chance of trying a rare distillery.
Popular bottles from the usual distilleries.

So I won’t be renewing, but that’s not to say someone with a more healthy wallet or who lives near Edinburgh, Glasgow or London won’t get more benefit from being close to one of their bars.

Just remember they are only indie bottlers cloaked as a club.
Unless you cancel.

Is it worth it?

I rejoined last year when a free membership code was available.
In that time I have ordered 1 bottle & visited the SMWS bar in London.

In short No! It’s not worth it, the bottles can be more expensive than other indies & you have to be quick to grab those
You can go on Amazon and get a 15 year old Linkwood & membership for £100.

Are you a gambler? risk the ‘mystery’ bottle? Or go for a single cask, cask strength Speyside?

If you are already a member, renew for £75 or a mystery bottle & membership is £90. Beware membership is now auto renewal
SMWS membership costs £85 if you haven’t already been a member.

Or you can purchased a bottle & membership for £100 - answer a 4 question quiz about relaxation / holiday prefs you have a mystery bottle selected for you, but you can change to one of the other 3 mystery bottles available, or
That was very diplomatically put 👍

The 70’s version is world apart.
What do they say about progress?
Well done, it’s one marathon I’ve had my eye on doing, maybe next year? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Some may think that I wasn’t kind and that they wouldn’t send it to their sworn enemies but… it has its place…
Saturday dramage starts with this #dramswap from @dramitmick.bsky.social

The nose is very pleasant on this, looking forward to the taste

I was decent, there was a freshness to it.
Morangie have it for £75 which is a bit too pricey, but I would consider a bottle if it was around £40 which I have seen.
Tonight’s dram is from @dramitmick.bsky.social A 12 YO Glenmorangie Bourbon & Calvados cask finish. Slainte 🥃 Mick
It will make you wonder when current blends went wrong. Keep at it and you might just discover the exact month and year. 😝
Loch Fyne have a heavy discount on Laphroaig Elements 1.0, 57% off or £103, bringing it down from £182 to £79

This is confirmation of a couple of points;
1. This whisky was extraordinarily overpriced to begin with.
2. The whisky downturn is real.
3. Whisky enthusiasts are past being conned.
I have to agree Scotty, 99.9% of the folk around here cannot drive for toffee, or coffee or whiskee.. maybe the last one is inappropriate. But they can’t.
I may or may not be included in that stat 😉
