Angelo is 100% Garma though.

It doesn't help that he has the same voice as actor as Garma in Origin.

Okay, we've watched through episode 5. Mineva Zabi confirmed. Also, Banagher seems like a hybrid of Kamille and, somehow, Van Fanel from Escaflowne. (I loved Escaflowne when I was like 20. How did I not find UC back then??)

Full Frontal is not Char to me. He's way too different.

I should also add that I have absolutely no judgment or animosity for younger generations. My only generational beef is with boomers. 😂 And even then, I get along with a lot of the more liberal ones.

My company is overall liberal (and we're in SoCal) but my department is small and tight-knit. The folks who do know I'm married to a trans dude (my boss included) don't get it, even though they've never expressed any malice.

Thanks. I worry that younger people I meet in fandom will think I'm not relatable or that I belong on Facebook sharing memes about minions and drinking from the hose. 😂

(So I'm just gonna borrow other peoples' kids forever. Or adopt a young adult without family. Char, are you out there? Haha but seriously...) But yeah, so much of my life has been lived on queer time and neurodivergent time that I just absolutely cannot conceptualize of myself as middle-aged.

It would feel really shaky to try to adopt a child (we both have conditions which would preclude natural methods, and would have done so even when we were younger) when this administration might decide that LGBTQ parents are inherently abusive.

I feel like parenthood is the cheat code that a lot of millennials use to achieve "fully realized adult" status, but there was never a time in my life when I felt like I had enough to offer a child. Ironically, I would finally consider it now except once again the state of things for queer couples.

I don't think I'm ever going to be able to own a house, for instance. I don't have generational wealth and because I'm queer with a trans spouse, living somewhere where homes are actually affordable (fucking red states) would not be worth the trade for the amount of hatred it would expose us to.

I'm 42, and it is freaking WEIRD to me. Like, yes, I have a full-time job (a CAREER in a specialized field, even!) and I've been married for almost 12 years now. But I'm also part of a cursed generation that has been denied so many normal "milestones" of adulthood. 🧵

I tell folks that I'm queer these days.

That generally encompasses possible attraction to pretty much anyone but cishet men. People tend to get angry if you put it that specific way, though. 😂

I have given up and say "husband" at work because I work with a lot of really religious (like "we are in the end time") cishets that just don't and are never gonna get it. But I definitely prefer "spouse" terminology, myself!

I HAVE BEEN CURIOUS ABOUT THOSE PAINTS! But I've also seen some peoples' sets develop mold and I'd probably panic and throw them all out if that happened to me.

As someone who does both writing and visual art, I absolutely agree! I have very specific art-related struggles, but I definitely put a lot more of myself into my writing.

Also, my mind is a bit blown at how little attention Gundam fic seems to get overall vs. other fandoms I've been in.

I don't think I've gotten much feel for the actual plot yet. Except that Mineva Zabi is there (not confirmed but you can't tell me she isn't Mineva.) And she's adorable. And she's trying to prevent a war.

I guess this is my lazy unofficial watch thread. We are two episodes in, though we're gonna have to watch the second one again because SOMEONE fell asleep halfway through. (It wasn't me.) So far, it's visually stunning and the music slaps.
