Only if it relates to a criminal charge. Civil contempt, yes, but it will only be criminal contempt for things such as child support. Rarely will you see a criminal contempt charge in a non-family civil case. Texas is a debtor’s haven.

Damn! I can remember not too many years ago having to get to a bus at 5:25am to get to work at 7am…a distance, as the crow flies, of less than 10 miles. And that was frequently after working until 11pm and not getting home until 2:30-2:45am because of how the night owl busses ran. Kids🤦‍♀️

They got small amounts in the past. My godfather was a farmer and he would get $500-$1000/year to not farm 1 acre. The farmers referred to them as the “government acre”. It had to sit fallow for 1 full year…not even grazed, just kept cut down.

Yes, please! I had them as a kid and I’m lucky that the only damage was to my adult teeth that were forming and a hole in my retina. My great-aunt had brain damage from the high fever and had to live her adult life in a group home.

I would assume. Then again, most of the tribe was wiped out be disease in the late 1700s and early 1800s. It would be interesting to look for, certainly.
