It's not okay, but it is reality. They're supposed to get back pay once the government reopens, that's how it has happened in the past, but that's uncertain with this regime that just ignores laws it doesn't like.

There is a whole second set of rules/laws the military has to abide by. The Uniform Code of Military Justice, if they don't go to work, they're AWOL (absent without leave) and can be fined or even jailed for it.

Also a veteran, they should absolutely go home and change into their dress uniforms. Frankly, though, they absolutely should wear their uniforms, it makes the government look bad for putting our military in this position.

It's an invitation, not a summons. And the No Kings marches are having an impact. If they weren't, Republicans wouldn't be trying to frame them as violent or "hate America rallies."
