Look closely- you might see a certain Associates’ Communications Specialist featured in the display! View “Out of the Box” in the Central Library from now until April 3, 2026.
The Associates is so proud to underwrite the role of Manager of Archives, held by Eve Neiger, and Archivist, Margaret Peachy, who, together with the Archives Department's archivists Kim Reynolds and Crystal Rodgers, created this brilliant and educational display.
Highlighting a wide range of materials (including a consecrated loaf of bread!) this wonderful new display shows what archives are, what we can learn from them, and what archivists do to care for and make collections accessible.

Playwright @patrickgabridge.bsky.social drew from original letters in the Boston Public Library's Anti-Slavery Collection, many of which were conserved and digitized with funding from the Associates of the Boston Public Library.
This new, short play dramatizes the fraught relationship between abolitionists Lydia Maria Child and Maria Weston Chapman amid their shared fight to end slavery.
