A question about an unexpected execution plan appeared on the Oracle-L list server a few days ago: "Why is the optimizer using this index skip scan?"

One guess, based on insufficient information, is that it might be due to an odd "fix" in the optimizer:

Fresh video! There are amazing features available with the partitioning license, but if you're on a tight budget you CAN get the basic features without it. This will work on Standard Edition as well, but maybe just move to Autonomous and stop worrying :-)
