Absolutely. Just paid £15,000 stamp duty to buy a small 2 bedroom flat after years of renting in the same building. Meanwhile, the five bedroom detached houses in our street that haven't changed hands for decades pay nothing.
That one's outside my area of expertise I'm afraid.
Time for a listen to Saariaho's superb Graal théâtre for violin and orchestra. Recordings by Kremer/Salonen and Storgårds/Lintu on the player this evening. Kaija Saariaho born on this day in 1952.
It should. I work for the organisation that manages the line, so will have a word with the relevant team if it doesn't.
Not a work I get much from (I greatly prefer Bartók's other works), but I'd go for Fricsay, Haitink, Karajan (EMI) and Ádám Fischer. (Can't go wrong with Ádám Fischer in Bartók.)

Now listening to Takemitsu's Signals from Heaven performed by Jeroen Berwaerts and Salaputia Brass. The combination of gleaming precision and emotional intensity here is breathtaking. Tōru Takemitsu born in Tokyo on this day in 1930.

Now listening to Weinberg's Trumpet Concerto recorded by Timofei Dokschitzer, for whom it was composed, and the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra conducted by Algis Zuraitis. A thrilling performance, still unsurpassed, and remarkably good sound for a Soviet recording made in the late 1960s.

Poor Bruckner. He apparently didn't much of it at all. 😏
