Thracia in particular has a lot of characters resembling Archanean ones. Are they used to contrast Leif's unique circumstances of being forced to live on the run and build a less-than-optimal revel army with Marth's? You could see it that way...but no. They're just evidence for series-wide trends.

No worries, I don't see it as rude. But I do disagree. Archetypes are the lifeblood of Fire Emblem. A lesser person might say that Lifis is an interesting take on the character of Julian in Thracia's setting, but an enlightened person knows that he really is just included to fill out an archetype.

Like I said, Gaiden was released at a time when archetypes were still getting their bearings. Their redesigns in Echoes, when the three archetypes has been firmly established, do adhere to them.

Fire Emblem archetypes have always been a widely accepted and universally beloved concept. There's Ests, Jagens, Gotohs, and Malleduses, the latter of which literally just means "character who is a tactician", apparently. Amongst these archetypes, none are nearly as beloved as the Frey archetype.
