I don't remember what I said over there. Here I am really just me to people who know who I am already. Pronounced Auntie Kate She/Her Engineer Irish History, Feminist, STEM, Wikipedia & SFF

Declutterers tell me if I turn out to actually NEED the object I can buy a new one.
If I have the money, that's all well and good but this trend towards 100% subscription based stuff means I'd need an ongoing supply of money to replace stuff I physically own.

I feel my hoarding growing stronger.
yes thank you, I'll have one of those
I sorry- I just discovered the concept of a 100% subscription based bed
We’re creating a world where we’re trying to make objects smart and people stupid, and the early signs suggest it’s not going to work out well for either one.
Call me a luddite if you like - but I don't want a bed that stops working when Amazon Web Services goes down.

I would have expected the failsafe position of the beds to be OFF and FLAT.... but wow
I had a fabulous time over the weekend with friends at #idwcon except for a few minutes on Monday when the fact that it was my father's anniversary, discussions of the (literal) death of the author and the recently revisited death of another author/friend and a total lack of sleep combined to tears
I guess unless the "class" in question was like primary school entry class - I don't know how many of my 42 primary school class got 3rd level qualifications but the number would have been *low* 50-100 years earlier..
Bit concerned by a class that had a pass rate of 3/42..... I mean, she rocks for being one of the 3 and becoming a first but seriously, what school was supposedly educating women and allowing them to reach the end of the course without graduating in those numbers.
Do you know anyone interested in becoming the Irish Language Officer for Wikimedia Community Ireland?

So lovely to see you at the weekend. Sending hugs
Meanwhile some one of the upgrades on the work PC has borked it... I mean it's possible it's an upgrade on my phone or even the local mobile network but......
So, like, there's this reel on fb with the long skirt turned short, etc.... but I'm Gen X, and I was doing this in the 90s...80s even.... like, it was a staple....
I still haven't figured out how exactly being woke is dangerous?!
I was watching an episode of Endeavour yesterday and kept thinking Morse was going to pull a mobile phone out..... ummmm.
I am!! I didn't wear them til today and was at a bus stop when i put my hands in and found pocketses
I mean maybe an inch short of actually half way precisely but close. I can get my whole hand in past the wrist. Pocketsses.....
I bought a pair of high ride straight leg jeans in Dunnes the other day. The front pockets reach half way to my knee. Girl clothes WITH pockets!!!!
If I had a functioning account I'd likely reply "it sounds goofy and it's not Irish". I mean... if that's what they want to call themselves let them go for it, but it's not Irish and it's gonna sound weird here but if they don't suggest it's Irish folks will assume it's just a name from elsewhere.
Fascinating spam today:
"Theip ar Íocaíocht le linn Athnuachana do Shíntiúis Stórála Cloud

Níor éirigh linn do stóráil cloud a athnuachan.

D’fhéadfadh go bhfuil do mhodh íocaíochta imithe in éag. Le do thoil, nuashonraigh do shonraí íocaíochta chun leanúint ar aghaidh."

Oh for heaven's sake apparently it could be tomorrow either!??!
