In my story, societal collapse has occurred in Aotearoa NZ. Power dynamics have shifted to those people whose societal norms pre-collapse were community-based rather than capitalist-individualist. And there’s some mysterious tech involved. 🤙🏽

I didn't know it until the very end at the Author's credits section though I did think to myself when I got to his story, "Nah, I can't be THAT Wayne Brady. It's a common enough name - this ain't the King of Improv Wayne jumping head first into THE STAND."

My mother was Tsalagi and my father was Irish American (hard drinking). Their marriage was rocky and ended in an ugly divorce. I grew up feeling of two worlds but an outlier to both. It took me many years to realise that I was the dream of my ancestors and that they were always beside me.

Have you read Carmen Maria Machado’s excellent short story ‘“The Lost Performance of the High Priestess of the Temple of Horror”? It dives right into Hitch’s sadism creep factor though it centers around ‘Psycho’. I did a pilgrimage to Bodega Bay once. Gulls everywhere, miserable weather, perfect. 🖤

Never been much of a sports follower. Didn't get it. Then I married a Kiwi. Then I moved to Aotearoa. Then my wife indoctrinated me: All Blacks. Black Ferns. Bleed black. The Ferns earned a bronze at the recent World Cup, but damn, the power, heart, and grace of these warrior women. 🖤🖤🖤
