I know this looks dodgy and I was sceptical but having made it numerous times with great success I can highly recommend. I use white flour and never worry about egg size. I usually use all the liquid strained from the tea. Good luck!

“You’re not paid according to the value you bring you’re paid according to the strength of your union. Use your industrial strength, or you’ll be taken for granted.”

✊ Powerful words from @rmtunion.bsky.social Eddie Dempsey on last night’s UCU Live. Thank you for the solidarity

As cold and flu season kicks in, we're adjusting the office decor accordingly

Sorry! I could have used Smith but went for Jones instead… was sore tempted to insert the correct name as they are quite long deceased but it seemed a bit mean. And as you suggest I am sure they were far from alone!

Found under Jones’s* desk (*name substituted here)

You’d think if you lived Quite A Long Way from the south coast they might consider this. Mais non.

What have you even been doing with your time if you haven’t been visiting Nuneaton to see #GeorgeEliot ‘s mantilla and buying a marrow

I mean this was in the 1980s although it was probably even harder to get then. Same brother took me to France - was doing A Level French and had never been. The examiner expressed surprise - but guess what - not everyone’s parents can afford foreign holidays! Still makes my blood boil now 😡

I did manage to taste it though because my cosmopolitan brother procured it from France 😁 as a confirmed Francophile he would not have questioned why anyone would want to drink it.

Green chartreuse was my affected teenager drink of choice entirely because my role model Iris Henderson (played by Margaret Lockwood) drinks it on a train in The Lady Vanishes. Still a bit of a role model although I never did get to run off with Michael Redgrave. Still like a green chartreuse
