That moment when, in the failing
afternoon light, you suddenly remember
the language of dusk

and then you speak it;
speak all of its absences and shades
of bruised

and become a knowing
like that tangled in the skeins of the geese
that there must be a leaving
to make possible
a returning to.

The beetles and roaches
that once crawled
on my prone body
are now liberated
from their march.
I have risen
from my death bed
of thorns.
Pale hands trace the outline
of old friends
and wave them goodbye.
I drink coffee
as I think of paper planes
with poems writ
on each one.

something that I lost

so long ago
I struggle to recall

I retrace my steps
to jog my memory

little traces of it
everywhere

that book
this song

its on the tip
of my tongue

#Nefarious clouds gather,
conspiring with an
ominous evening sky—
mischief afoot

my inner demons
jump for joy,
the rest of me
huddles in misery,
held prisoner
by dark forces
of the universe

as if it's not
within my power
to grab a blanket
& turn the light on

I'll scowl instead.

wrapped up nicely

at the very least

I hear they're small,

Thank you ❤️ He sang a lot. Irish rebel songs, Burl Ives, Lonnie Donegan, The Pogues - were other favourites. I had a few to choose from, I resisted sharing this one, didn't want to traumatise everyone 😅 but we loved it, so dark.
