a few ghosts of myself have started to haunt me, i think. the ghost of my self from up until a year ago is here, saying "you never mourned me, you just jumped into a new life," and yes, that's true, because the new one is better, but a death is still a death and so now i think "ah, sorry"

thinking of the construction of this book: page 12 places an open question on the board, the next 300 pages fill the board with a handful of lives. the literal next page gives you the key, but you don't know it until the last page answers the question. it's breathtaking. i can't believe it.
