Here's what I stand for, even in my novels: NOAA scientist Grace Kim (she's a fish statistician at NMFS!) and Army Special Forces Staff Sergeant Rey Cruz are both children of immigrants. They are both Americans, and my books make my opinion on immigration very clear.

My kid spotted this hawk on the ground in SoCal. Little birds were not afraid, and it just sat there. I'm feeling lazy and thought #birdsky friends could ID on sight? Foothills East of LA.

My little kids and their nanny were on a public bus in 2010 in Vancouver BC when Canada won gold medal hockey. 15 yrs later and they still reenact almost being tipped over, in a METRO BUS, by the rioting Canadians. Happy rioters. Kids thought it was fun, nanny not so much.

Also, Kid #2 once said "I like your face." That kid was having some troubles, so this was what I needed in that moment more than anything else. Going to see them today b/c they asked me to visit college and take them fun places in the car away from campus. I'm lucky.

While a deployed Army JAG in 2000, I helped a senior NCO reply to a report of survey (attempt to garnish wages) for a bunch of garbaged army equipment - beat up office chairs, dot matrix printers that weren't specialty ones, etc. I saved him $$$.

He called me the "Johnny Cochran of the Balkans."

I saw that later, and wow - yes, it's pretty clear that's what he meant. I saw the ad during the Jays/Mariners game and my mouth dropped open b/c I knew it was going to lead to this.

Frankly, until I saw the end and that Ontario had sponsored it, I fully expected it to be Canadian autoworkers.

An IRL friend cannot believe there are people who admire Homelander, and I keep telling her...these are the people who think women have no right to say no and everyone pretty much exists to serve them, and yes, they think Homelander is a role model. She held on to her disbelief for a week.

Did they use a real recording or an AI voice or an actor, do you know? I didn't see that discussed in the article I read.

Canadians always, and I mean always, bring it back to 1812. I know bc I married one. I love Ohtani, but I'm rooting for the Jays, even though they beat my Ms and I hate Kirk's smirk (although I can get behind "the slowest guy in baseball").

The only people who *might* change their minds are those who are completely disengaged and this is the first thing they see negative. The ones who watch right wing media are mainlining that this is good, everyone does it, it's better.

I watched a person from my hometown who posted, upset about the demolition, get completely gaslighted with "talking points" about all the previous presidents who did this, told Obama did something (the photo was Truman era), etc. I thought this was the thing that would break containment, but

Kirby looks exactly like my 22 yr old son. Skinny, Same hair, same hairline, same nose, same sad eyes trying to hold back emotions ... the moms all text every time he pitches and our hearts break b/c he looks just like my first baby, all grown up, and we can't see him mess up b/c we get so sad.

One of my neighbors was going to spend the late afternoon drinking beer in a bubble bath to prepare for the game. My spouse went to the mountains and then the curling rink. I walked A LOT. This town is stressing

I am at the editing phase where I hit find on a filler word and delete delete delete. I decreased 356 instances of "any" to a mere 188, and 171 uses of "still" to only 71.

But I am too afraid to search on em dashes. Not happening.

You have no idea how much I wish I had my paranormal heist romance ready for indie pub right now. I got my rights back last year and just haven't gotten through republishing everything yet, but it was a heist of a Charlemagne reliquary. Bad timing, c'est moi.

My in-laws are there. Not gonna speculate, but I did watch my balding, be-sweatered, slighty pudgy, Canadian FIL death-grip a pickpocket in Rome and get his wallet promptly returned. And he spent last 20 yrs selling specialty security system software to interesting countries.
