From a tiny circus cage in Guatemala to being out in the open, basking in the warmth of the African sun, doing whatever she chooses to do.

Thoughts for Simba: Simba's been taken into hospital to find the cause of his nosebleeds. At 17, he’s one of our senior lions rescued with brother Rey Ayacucho from a circus in Peru. He has been taken to Old Chapel Vet Clinic for tests. Please send healing wishes—hoping he’s soon back alongside Rey.

MOON AMONG THE GRASSES. She was rescued as a cub alongside her sisters Sun & Luna. They'd been born in a cage on the back of a circus truck in Guatemala. Now there are no more cages, no more fear—just wide open spaces & grasses tickling her nose at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary!

Just as relevant today, this thoughtful poem was written by 12-year-old Rachel Johnson and published in our 1992 Animals’ Defender magazine. You can help such poor hens by avoiding chicken and helping to save more farmed animals with a plant-based diet.

A tiger handler was mauled to death in OK, showing the human cost of using wild animals for “entertainment.” Ryan Easley, linked to “Tiger King,” was killed during a show at his Growler Pines facility. Tigers belong in the wild or true sanctuaries, not cages performing tricks. #EmptytheCages

Luna has started to show interest in Sasha tiger next door. We have been giving Luna time in Sasha’s habitat while Sasha is in her feeding camp, which allows them to communicate more closely. We'll monitor interactions to see if they'd like to be companions. It'll be up to them!
