Very excited for this one. My latest outing for @bigfinish.bsky.social coming in December
FEAT: The Man Himself
angusdunican.bsky.social
I mean, that’d be nice also! Sadly, with the kids in the equation, not being around for bedtime needs to be compensated for so that I can remain their LEGO buying sugar daddy x

@rosieisaholt.bsky.social thought you were tremendously funny last night. Bravo

The dramatic arc of ‘The Twat’ is very important for group cohesion in a cast.

One of you getting to see the REAL them (either ‘alright actually, just a bit brash’ or ‘EVEN MORE OF A TWAT!’) is an important turning point in hushed discussions of The Twat

I really want to be in a play.

I want to rehearse for 3 weeks, meet some great people (and one twat) & then do 7 shows a week (2 matinees) for a month or so.

I want to drink after the show with my pals, collect some funny stories, then wave it all goodbye and go look for another

God I want that

‘Not bothered about me, right? That's what makes it great.’
angusdunican.bsky.social
YES!!! That’s the shit. Well done

I have actually heard it IRL, to be clear, but i did think they were pod people

Woke up with ‘didn’t The Sea Hag from Popeye have a vulture named Bernard!?’ As my brain’s opening gambit for the day but that’s all I got.
Section of an illustration showing all the characters in the Popeye universe. The sea hag (a tall, grotesque woman in a black dress and headscarf) and her vulture Bernard, stand amidst other characters like
ALICE THE GOON, HAM GRAVY, POOPDECK PAPPY and many other obscure figures

Who else are the great bird sidekicks/familiars from fiction?
Zazu the hornbill from The Lion king Gracious, the great green bird from ‘Noggin the Nog’ Woodstock from Peanuts Iago, the red parrot from Alladin

Even though it probably predates it, I consider this to be memetic ground-zero for that…

Plz forgive another post about Astrid Lundberg (@oddpride.com)

In my youth, I was chided for writing from an assumed position of cultural literacy; that everyone had seen/read what I had

Here, Astrid compellingly makes the case that this is a facet of neurodivergent communication to be cherished🧵

I quit all socials for all a month and then proceeded to absolutely ruin the inbox of about 30 friends with a deluge of warmed-over takes and memes

It’s an honour. You are a load-bearing human

I must presume that whoever thought of applications launching upon startup was not a parent. The idea that we want ANYTHING to happen - first thing - before we’re good and ready could only have been thought of by someone who actually fucking sleeps,

My favourite of these was my winky flat in Deptford.

Not only were there constant wall-scrabblings but also distinctly separate squeaks and chitters.

It turned out that the rats in the walls were actively fighting a turf war against an incursion of squirrels for the back half of the flat.

Just heard scampering noises between floors and I'm thrilled and terrified. What will it be? Will it fall through the ceiling into my lap? Will we be best friends or will I get rabies?
angusdunican.bsky.social
Totally. It’s weird because, for some, there’s this creed that ‘clarity is king’ and that behavioural normalcy comes second to establishing facts and stakes.

But…just have them both
talk about a parent as ‘mum’ or ‘dad’. Then we get the shared relationship AND bonus info about their background

Somewhere, out there, is the one person who actually calls their sister ‘sis’ and they are single-handedly supporting the fragile verisimilitude of a thousand terrible scripts.

I think, as always, it began as a joke.

Performative over-reaction to some foible, e.g. the ‘backwards’ toilet paper thing. But the subject of that ‘joke’ is the presumed observer and their over-powering neurosis RE: this foible.

This wanton self-assertion has, now, been accidentally normalised.

People being performatively outraged/neurotic/judgmental about things other people do that don't affect them in any way has got out of hand in the social media era, I think.

One of the posts that got me flamed back in the old place was when I said I didn’t fetishise books as objects and wasn’t bothered if their owners wanted to rip them in half to make their baggage lighter or chuck them in the recycling once they’ve read them or whatever. Some people went ballistic
