(1) Slot is in a position to know. (2) Isak wasn’t a slow starter. He scored right out of the gates against Liverpool in August 2022 on his Newcastle debut. The first third of last season was a barren stretch for him, yes, but that’s when he started getting miffed about his contract situation.

Out of curiosity, are you referring to the rumors Kev Lawson was alluding to earlier today or have there been more credible press reports saying similar things?

His performances this season are entirely consistent with his performances in the final third of last season, before the ostensible lack of a preseason was even an issue. And FWIW Slot himself has asserted that Isak has already gotten the equivalent of a preseason under his belt now.
