Does an LLM truly understand code or just memorise patterns? @jessyjli.bsky.social and co. suggest the latter. Models crush standard programs, but their performance collapses when language rules are mutated. It's rote memory, not robust semantic competence.

🚨 Does your LLM really understand code -- or is it just really good at remembering it?
We built **PLSemanticsBench** to find out.
The results: a wild mix.

✅The Brilliant:
Top reasoning models can execute complex, fuzzer-generated programs -- even with 5+ levels of nested loops! 🤯

❌The Brittle: 🧵

Not surprised to see this. Others like #xAI have done it. Do I think #OpenAI has enough guardrails? Not at all! But money talks - they’ll chase users however they can. The line between innovation and impulse is getting thinner.

So inflammation can “wake up” cancer cells that have been dormant for years! Lung inflammation - sometimes caused by chemo - and certain immune cells (M2 macrophages) send signals that reactivate them. Once awake, they multiply again, possibly explaining cancer’s return.

Politics isn't just about voting anymore. It shapes who we are, who we hang with, even daily choices. No wonder polarisation feels so personal.

How everything became left or right “coded”
The answer isn’t just about parties dividing on policies.

CODA is a smart way to pick the best AI model. It uses the models' own feedback to find the most important data to check, reducing the annotation work by 70%. Brilliant and efficient!

This new work by @justin-kay.bsky.social provides ML users with an efficient mechanism to wade through the sea of available open-source models and identify which model will work best for their needs!

Check it out below, and learn more at our @iccv.bsky.social poster (highlight!) on 10/21!!

There are now millions of publicly-available AI models – which one is right for you?

We introduce CODA ( #ICCV2025 Highlight! ), a method for *active model selection.* CODA selects the best model for your data with any labeling budget – often as few as 25 labeled examples. 1/

Great work by @susannbeier.bsky.social and co. CFD shows how tiny stent geometry changes create low/oscillatory wall shear zones that likely drive restenosis/thrombosis. Clear, actionable evidence for geometry‑driven stent design! #CFD #Cardiovascular #ResearchSky

Prime Intellect wants a “DeepSeek” moment - decentralize AI training so anyone can run RL and build real models. I love the ambition. Democratize compute. Challenge the giants. Risky, messy - still the way change happens.

#AI is eating the grid & all the water! GPUs are the real issue, they generate insane heat. We're using a "chainsaw to cut a hamburger" with these huge, inefficient models. Time for direct liquid cooling, geothermal energy, and some *actual* intelligence in the design. 🔥🌍 #FutureEnergy
Why do AI data centers use so many resources?
AI data centers are gobbling up resources, and they're growing fast.

This is what *humanity* should be. In Villamalea, a small Spanish town, the council backed regularising undocumented migrants as “the most natural thing,” says Mayor Núñez Pérez. I’m inspired - decency choices scale.

Australia can do this - a future powered by 100% renewables is possible. Phasing out coal isn’t easy, but investment, grid upgrades, and bold policy make it real. As an Australian, I’m hopeful and all in for a cleaner future.

This whole "orbital sunlight" thing is insane. Who asked for light pollution on demand? It's a fundamentally terrible idea that trashes the night sky - just stop! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Nicely laid out by @ianlmorgan.bsky.social: NIH leadership is failing early-career researchers - overburdened, overlooked, and underfunded. If we want innovations, we must invest in the people driving them.
