This bookstore is such a hidden gem. So many incredible old books, and a great little bar, too.

It's bad to streamline permitting?

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

Homeowners insurance prices is going to leave much of Florida uninhabitable within 10-15 years. I don't think your estimation is far off.

And here I thought Westlake was too big

You're right about an abundance of people make a place feel safe, but I don't know what that has to do with security officers on transit.
andyrandles.bsky.social
as being safe if we want to increase ridership.

Something that really frustrates me about this conversation is that urbanists constantly beat the drum on safety (accurately, FWIW - transit is very safe), but fail to miss the point that security like this makes many people feel safer and likely boosts ridership. Feeling safe is just as important..

Buses, unlike rail, are diffuse. There are 100s of them operating across the county from early in the morning until late at night. So it would be nice to have some evidence that distributing a couple hundred security guards across the system makes people "safer" before investing additional millions.

Better make our stacked flats a little harder to build.

Of course - the questions were about whether the future bricks will be real or thin (facade) bricks. There was also talk about pavement quality, concrete, and whether "pictures of produce"
would be allowed in windows.

We have pre-approved plans for ADUs in Seattle. They’re *fine* but our topography and tree ordinances make them hard to work in many instances.

Urbanists forget that a lot of people outside this bubble really want fare gates and more fare enforcement. It feels crappy paying for a service that 8/10 people around you aren’t paying for.

12th Ave bike lane through Cap Hill, CD and Little Saigon connecting to Beacon Hill would be so nice
andyrandles.bsky.social
I’ve never understood the argument against them. Like, oh no, people have to pay to use a service? In Seattle, there’s free and subsidized Orca cards so no one’s being excluded.
