It's still public debt, hence the Treasury Rules which mean so few projects outside London get funded. Some money now paid in bonuses/profits etc can be recycled but not enough
You misunderstood my point. If it's nationalised and the government then don't invest in the water industry then nothing changes. And as this government have shown the investment priorities are NHS and national defence. Nationalisation is no guarantee of improvement.
Broadly agree. Heavy fines for sewage and targets for leak reductions plus binding commitments to invest in infrastructure or lose rights to operate. But it's not a panacea unless govt commits to invest then little changes.
Narnia books are unreadable. Even as a 12yo reading the later books the propoganda was unbearable. But reading TLTWATW to my kids found it truly terrible, especially the bit at the end where they are adults in Narnia is genuinely the worst thing I've ever read.
Your presuming that nationalisation works as a strategy.Evidence is mixed. There's been no noticeable changes in performances by train companies since they came back into public control. Unless essential monopoly (water) or national priorities public support for nationalisation is marginal.
Self-appointed worthless ultra-nimby Nottingham Civic Society complaining about redevelopment of eye-sore Broadmarsh site complaining of the loss of historic building Big City Tyres. Just admit you hate people and want no jobs or housing. Pathetic.

Absolutely, building new roads just to allow more lorries to park up is dumb. Rail freight a much better alternative.
Moving the traffic away from Stonehenge was always the better option, reducing it even more so.
IMHO: Labour's 1 clear success is sidelining private schools via 1: cabinet that's overwhelmingly state educated 2: taxing private education as a luxury. Funding breakfast clubs is important support for working / poor parents.
Ending the entitlement culture of private educated will take decades.
I've never seen a politician from any party who's personal mantra is so obviously CBA ("can't be arsed" for non-Brits). Badenoch isn't just useless and ignorant, but also quite staggeringly lazy.
This govt was always going become massively unpopular given the scale of challenges they are responding to and actions needed to address these.
The surprise is that they have made themselves so unpopular without effectively addressing any of those challenges
Lib Dems are consistently winning seats. Ignore the noise about the Greens membership: its meaningless. It's elections that wins power and power that changes things
And stop believing that time servers in Labour-led councils and trade unions are proper candidates. You are caught in group think, try people who can innovate.
It's easy to pontificate on Labour govt failings so here's my shot.
Stop chasing reform vote's they are old working class voters screaming into the void. What upsets them is the C21st. No remedy will satisfy them. Ignore them.
Invest in a hopeful, fairer UK with opportunity for all.
They look like they're committed to LTC. But its pointless unless they also commit to the (expensive) upgrades to the A2/M2 from wherever it make landfall to Dover harbour. Otherwise they are simply moving congestion from Dartford to Canterbury even ignoring induced demand.
Were HMRC aware of their data being held on US infrastructure and did AWAS tell then otherwise?
North Sea herring fishing was banned i the 70s before any impact from EU because of overfishing by UK boats. They always overfish and then blame someone else for their own greed. Its a fundamentally rotten and economically irrelevant industry. They just need to be ignored.
The internet: still trying to sell you the stuff you've recently already purchased, since 1995
England: exporting our worthless bigots since the Pilgrim Fathers, 1620. You're welcome to them.
Can we not club together to get him the cheapest RyanAir ticket out of here? We just need to chose somewhere that doesn't deport him straight back using "threat to national security" as their cover for "clean up your own rubbish"
I'd still treat as a red flag.
I'm sure you are correct. Terrible Indy band Kula Shaker tried to reclaim swastikas for Indian culture (?!), but no one is using swastikas for that today, they are using them to show hate.
Same here. If this guy had changed views he'd be embarrassed into going to tattoo removal. He hasn't.
Bad luck Zac Polanski. I may not agree with you about many things but I'm not sure what you've done to earn the indignity of Owen Jones' endorsement.
OJ is the kiss of death for political careers, he'll be screaming "sellout" before Easter. Because its all about him.
Can anyone share the numbers flying to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam from UK? That's the critical comparison
Went into Nottingham B&Q last night not long before it closed. Despite the store being quiet there was a large queue for 1 open till. So asked customer services why they didn't open more and got a rant about staff cuts.
All fair enough
Except the closed tills were all self service. Huh?
In theory yes but cost and time taken to get a visa / work permit and the distracting effect for them around the uncertainty around visa renewal are major factors.
I'd strongly dislike a UK first policy but it has the benefit of honesty, todays system is dishonest.
