#Rome 🇮🇹 to #Livorno with #IC510. This is one of #Trenitalia’s (very) long-distance daytime #InterCity trains: 11 hours from #Salerno to #Torino. It hasn’t got a #DiningCar, just an ex-#SelfService carriage with vending machines and a few bar stools.
At Roma S. Pietro, a track leads into the Vatican.

Good morning. After breakfast in the sleeper cabin of the #Trenitalia #InterCityNotte to #Roma 🇮🇹 Termini, a quick hop by train to Roma S. Pietro station, and Saint Peter's Square🇻🇦- still without the crowds, early in the morning. (And a welcome occasion to use the Santa Sede flag icon for once 😉.)

Tonight’s #Trenitalia 🇮🇹 #InterCityNotte from #Trieste is hauled, top’n’tail, by Class E.402B locos. It includes ex-Z1 1st and 2nd class cars, and an ex “Gran Confort” one, all rebuilt to 2+2 open plan seating. Plus a T3 (ex-T2s) sleeper and two T4 couchettes (ex UIC-X 1st class compartment seaters).

This year’s European Capital of Culture #GO2025 has got a connection by train from #NovaGorica 🇸🇮 in #Slovenia to #Gorizia 🇮🇹 Centrale station in #Italy. The service, which continues to #Venice, is worked by a Class HTR.412 #Trenitalia #Hybrid trainset. Pictures taken earlier today.

Oh wie schön, das Treibhaus gibt’s immer noch. Da war ich oft in den 80er Jahren, als ich in Innsbruck studiert hab. (Bzw, in dem Lebensabschnitt, in dem ich die Berufsbezeichnung Student geführt hab. Studieren war nicht so einfach, viel zu viel Ablenkung in dieser grossartigen Stadt und Umgebung.)

ich glaub, das Überfordertsein ist sehr OK angesichts einer Situation, auf die wir weder durch Sozialisierung noch durch unser angeborenes Nervenkostüm vorbereitet sind. Wir müssen nicht immer tun. Wir können auch einfach sein.
Du tust in so vielen Situationen so viel. Jetzt kannst Du einfach sein.

Views this afternoon from #Savudrija #Salvore, the northwestern tip of #Istria 🇭🇷: ships to, and from, #Koper 🇸🇮 and #Trieste 🇮🇹 are passing in front of the #Dolomites mountain range, which is about 100 kms away. Only the autumn months provide these views.

seit Monaten macht irgendein Viech fast jede Nacht vor unserer Haustür seinen Haufen hin. Ich hatte mir schon vorgenommen, dem Übeltäter aufzulauern, schlaf ich halt eine Nacht nix.
Den Abbildungen auf dieser Karte nach, isses am ehesten Bär.
Und jetzt bin ich etwas verunsichert.

beide Orte sind nicht weit voneinander entfernt, und durch die “Via del Mercato” Wanderroute (sowie praktisch stündliche Züge) verbunden. Warum nicht dazwischen? Direkt beim Bahnhof in Re “Trattoria Gargino” mit sehr einfachen, günstigen Zimmern oder in Camedo die Osteria Grütli.

Going through the photos taken yesterday on board the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #EuroCity #Transalpin to #Graz. Because of track works further north, the train is diverted via #Villach, an occasion to enjoy some “faux cab-ride” views from the last car of the consist, as we travel along the scenic #Tauernbahn line.

Impressions from today’s ride along, and through, the Austrian Alps on board #EuroCity #Transalpin. Such a voyage wouldn’t be complete without lunch in the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #DiningCar, obviously.
